The rapid expansion of the internet and social media platforms has significantly transformed how people communicate and share information. While this has empowered individuals to express their opinions and ideas, it has also raised concerns about the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and harmful content.
As a result, governments and tech companies are increasingly implementing content regulations and censorship measures to address these issues.
These measures, however, often result in challenges to freedom of expression. Striking a balance between protecting free speech and addressing harmful content is a complex and pressing issue in the digital age.
Project Rationale
This project aims to address the following key challenges:
- Ensuring Free Expression: Protecting individuals’ right to express themselves freely online without undue censorship or surveillance.
- Combatting Harmful Content: Developing strategies to identify and mitigate the spread of harmful content while respecting freedom of expression.
- Advocacy and Awareness: Raising public awareness about the importance of free speech and the potential dangers of excessive online censorship.
- Legal Frameworks: Analyzing and proposing legal frameworks that strike a balance between freedom of expression and content regulation.
